Modern Lakehouse Cottage

Cherokee, AL

Our clients engaged us to design a lake house that would accommodate large family gatherings. The plan was developed to allow easy flow in and around the house, terraces, and the screen porch. All of the spaces are arranged to maximize the views of the lake. Careful attention was paid to all areas to ensure the house functioned well for water and outdoor activities.

The main gathering room comprises sitting areas, dining areas, and the kitchen with soaring vaulted ceilings and expansive window walls. The primary suite is located away from the main gathering areas to create a private retreat for the owners while allowing guests to enjoy the gathering areas. There is a private porch and art studio overlooking the lake to facilitate the retreat.
