Originally the homeowner’s childhood home, the house had many great memories of growing up. However, in order to suit his adult family, we had to completely re-envision the property. The original structure was a modern, split-level home that we wanted to renovate into a more southern, traditional home for the family and friends. The existing main level was very open, but didn’t have well defined living room and dining spaces. We created new spaces and reallocated space to better suit the southern, traditional architecture, and have a gracious front entry porch, dining room, and increase the size of the family room and kitchen.
As with split-level homes, the bedrooms were all clustered together on the upper level. However, we needed a master suite located on the main level, which was an addition. We also added a playroom and bedroom on the upper level. The lower level was expanded for a large family room and garage addition.
