This countryside farmhouse located in rural Mississippi incorporates local natural materials with a slight contemporary infusion into traditional, vernacular architecture. Part of the country life includes outdoor living and entertaining, which this house addresses with two, separate, screened porches. Each porch is anchored by a large masonry fireplace that facilitates outdoor use year round and provides an idyllic setting for lighting a fire as the sun sets. A rear terrace extends off of the family room, an indulgent area for solace and retreat into nature. The interior is a textured warmth of natural materials and comfortable sitting and sleeping arrangements that celebrate the surroundings by welcoming in light and views through large windows. The vaulted great room that is topped with wood trusses is the heart of the home and serves a dual purpose of entertaining large groups or welcoming the family into its rustic yet inviting walls for spontaneous napping or relaxing.
