Cooper-Young Historic Renovation

Memphis, TN

Located in the vibrant Cooper-Young Historic community, this renovation preserves the style and character of the neighborhood while creating a modern layout with exquisite details. With a focus on minimal intervention and preserving existing materials, the renovated façade gracefully showcases the historic charm of the home. With a major interior renovation that respects the existing footprint, the house shed its small, separate rooms to embrace an open flow on the first floor, creating a perfectly inviting space for friends and family. The foyer has been reconfigured to provide the addition of a workout room and a large bookshelf for the client’s extensive book collection. Built-ins like the bookshelf surround the living & dining areas, increasing functionality and appeal. The kitchen has been fully updated with a modern layout, with the addition of an island for more cooking space and storage, and the laundry closet is now a dedicated laundry room. The primary suite has been relocated as well to allow for a spacious walk-in closet, built-in shelving for extra dresser space, and an updated bathroom. A beautiful strategically placed stair provides seamless access to the newly designed second floor, where an unfinished attic space has been transformed into a haven with a living area, a new bathroom, and two bedrooms, complete with walk-in closets, dormers, vaulted ceilings, and charm.
