Burkle and Main has been announced as a finalist in the 2022 Building Memphis Awards! This transformative project was born out of a desire to ensure that, as the Uptown neighborhood grows, it does so in a way that is both equitable and prosperous for all residents. Before development, multiple meetings were held to engage with the existing neighborhood and gain input on the needs and identity of the community. This community involvement helped to create a space that provides Uptown Memphis with a sense of pride and security. During development, a Land Use Restrictive Covenant was derived whereby the rents at Burkle and Main are restricted to 60% or less of the area median gross income for the next 30 years, ensuring that there will be long-term affordability and diversity of housing options available in Uptown.
