A year and a half after moving into our Shapiro home I wanted to follow up and provide our reference to anyone thinking of employing the firm. This being our first new home project, and after providing our wish list, we entrusted Brad and his associates with all of the critical decisions. The process started with the Michigan on-site visit and interview of the three potential builders that Brad had selected. This was followed up with a review of all three builders cost proposals and the required follow-up. Once a builder was selected the Shapiro firm demonstrated the cross functional flexibility that is needed between a builder and an architect, especially important when the distance is over 800 miles and materials and codes can vary versus the SE. Despite the size of the project, the distance, MI weather delays, there’s not a single thing we would have changed then or now. This only happens when you select the right architect and builder. Our family loves our Shapiro home. This summer we received our most appreciated home compliment when a long-time local resident claimed that our lakefront screened porch is the “best room in Leelanau County”.
